White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has confirmed that President Joe Biden is "moving forward" with his presidential campaign amid the fallout from his debate performance against GOP challenger Donald Trump.

Jean-Pierre made the statement during a White House press briefing on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.

She denied reports that Biden is reevaluating the presidential race after the first debate, calling them "absolutely false."

Jean-Pierre added that Biden directly told her the reporting was false.

She acknowledged that the coming days are critical for Biden but not solely because of the debate.

"This moment is critical regardless of the debate or not. We are living in an important moment right now. Everything is at stake," she said.

The White House maintained that it won't release Biden's full medical exam results from February, which Jean-Pierre confirmed was his last exam.

"What we have released over the last 3 years every year since he's been in office has been transparent and it has been comprehensive," she said.

Jean-Pierre was asked if there is a "morale issue" in the White House since the debate.

In response, she said it's a "fair question."

She confirmed that Jeff Zients, White House chief of staff, held a staff-wide call and explained his door is always open to any staff member.

"He conveyed the importance of executing on our mission. He talked about the importance of coming together as a team and also having each other's backs," she said.

The statement comes as Biden faces criticism for his debate performance, with some Democrats reportedly questioning whether he should continue his re-election campaign.

Biden's son, Hunter Biden, has also been in the spotlight recently, having joined meetings with President Biden and his top aides since his father returned to the White House from Camp David, Maryland, on Monday evening.

Hunter Biden has also been talking to senior White House staff members, according to four people familiar with the matter.

While he is regularly at the White House residence and events, it is unusual for Hunter Biden to be in and around meetings his father is having with his team, these people said.

Hunter Biden remains under indictment accused of tax-related felonies, to which he has pleaded not guilty.

The news of Hunter Biden's involvement in White House meetings has raised questions about potential conflicts of interest and the influence of family members on the president's decision-making.

Meanwhile, a recent poll has shown Biden down by 4 in his home state of Pennsylvania, with 60.2 percent of likely voters having an unfavorable rating of Biden.

The poll also showed that 74.5 percent of swing voters have an unfavorable view of Biden, while just 21.2 percent have a favorable view.

Trump, on the other hand, enjoys more support from his fellow Republicans than Biden does his fellow Democrats.

Ninety-one percent of Republicans say they'll vote for Trump, including 83 percent who say they'll "definitely" do so.

Meanwhile, 85 percent of Democrats say they'll vote for Biden, including 74 percent who say they'll "definitely" do so.

Trump holds onto almost all of his support from 2020, with 95 percent saying they'll vote for him again, including 87 percent who say they "definitely" will.

Biden retains support from 88 percent of those voters, including 74 percent who say they'll "definitely" vote for him again.

The poll was conducted June 27-28, with 800 likely general election voters in Pennsylvania and a margin of error of plus or minus 3.45 percentage points.
