**Persecution of Christians Rises Worldwide: A Call to Action**

The alarming rise in the persecution of Christians around the globe demands urgent attention and action.

A recent report from Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) underscores the intensifying plight of Christians in various countries, marking an escalation that cannot be ignored.

This vital report, titled “The Persecuted and Forgotten?” sheds light on the conditions faced by believers in 18 nations where their vulnerability is alarmingly high.

Notably, the epicenter of militant Islamist violence is shifting from the Middle East to Africa.

Regions like Burkina Faso, Nigeria, and Mozambique have witnessed extreme violence against Christians, resulting in displacement for millions.

In Burkina Faso alone, over two million individuals—approximately 10% of the nation’s population—have been forced from their homes due to ongoing insurgencies targeting Christian communities.

The report also illuminates the role of authoritarian regimes in this escalating persecution.

Governments in China, Eritrea, India, and Iran have implemented repressive measures against Christians, criminalizing acts deemed disrespectful to the state religion.

In China, thousands are imprisoned by the Chinese Communist Party for practicing their faith, while in Eritrea, around 400 Christians remain detained without trial solely for their beliefs.

The data for India is also concerning, with 720 reported attacks or incidents of persecution against Christians in the previous year alone—an increase from the 599 reported cases in 2022.

Additionally, the fate of Christian children, particularly girls, is more precarious than ever.

Reports of abduction, sexual violence, forced marriage, and forced conversion are on the rise, painting a stark picture of danger for the most vulnerable in these communities.

Countries highlighted for violating the human rights of Christians include Syria, Myanmar, Iraq, Pakistan, North Korea, and Saudi Arabia.

As global uncertainty continues to rise, it is crucial for supporters of religious freedom to rally together in defense of persecuted Christians everywhere.

This year's report serves as a somber reminder that the fight for religious liberty is far from over.

It's a call for action and awareness in the face of a growing crisis that threatens fundamental human rights across the globe.
