Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez labels Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu as a 'war criminal' and criticizes his invitation to address Congress.

Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York has recently expressed her disapproval of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's upcoming address to a joint meeting of Congress. In a tweet, she referred to Netanyahu as a "war criminal" and stated that his invitation should be revoked.

The congresswoman's comments were made in response to a video in which Netanyahu claimed to have told Secretary of State Antony Blinken that it was "inconceivable that in the past few months the administration has been withholding weapons and ammunitions to Israel." However, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre denied Netanyahu's claims, stating that only one munitions shipment was paused.

Despite Ocasio-Cortez's criticism, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) have all extended an invitation to Netanyahu to speak before Congress. The Israeli leader is scheduled to deliver his remarks on July 24.

In response to Ocasio-Cortez's tweet, GOP Rep. Anthony D'Esposito of New York tweeted that there are thousands of New York residents who would love to hear from the "duly-elected representative of a diverse, democratic, American ally."

This is not the first time that Ocasio-Cortez has been critical of Netanyahu and his policies. In the past, she has been vocal about her support for the Palestinian cause and has criticized Israel's treatment of Palestinians. However, her recent comments have sparked controversy and have been met with criticism from both sides of the aisle.

As the date of Netanyahu's address to Congress approaches, it remains to be seen how his visit will be received by members of Congress and the American public. Regardless of one's political beliefs, it is important to engage in respectful and open dialogue about these complex issues.
