In a disturbing turn of events, a 19-year-old Honduran man has been apprehended in Kenner after a string of violent incidents, as reported by the police.

The Kenner Police Department initiated an investigation on Tues., Feb. 20 after receiving information about the assault of a 14-year-old girl at knifepoint. The suspect in question was identified as Angel Matias Castellanos-Orellana, who authorities have disclosed was residing in the United States without legal status.

Further chaos ensued on Sun., Feb. 25, at approximately 3:15 a.m., when law enforcement was alerted to a stabbing occurring in the 2600 block of Phoenix Street. According to the police, a man was ambushed by Castellanos-Orellana as he was exiting his vehicle, with the assailant demanding his belongings. During the altercation, Castellanos-Orellana proceeded to stab the victim multiple times in the face and back. The victim was promptly transported to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found Castellanos-Orellana drenched in blood.

In a separate incident, it was revealed that Castellanos-Orellana, who went by various aliases including Elven Locket, was involved in illegal activities prior to this recent arrest.

He has been taken into custody and charged with armed robbery, aggravated battery, first-degree rape, and aggravated assault. In addition, a Federal “ICE” detainer has been issued for Castellanos-Orellana.

Chief Keith Conley expressed the challenges faced by law enforcement in identifying undocumented immigrants, citing issues such as the absence of proper documentation and the usage of false identities. While the apprehension of Castellanos-Orellana may bring some relief to the community, concerns persist regarding potential future offenses and identity alterations.

It is evident that the complexities surrounding the presence of illegal immigrants pose significant obstacles for local authorities, with data constraints, fraudulent identification, and language barriers impeding their investigative efforts.
