**Fraudulent Welfare Schemes Unmask Alarming Connections to Terrorism in Minnesota**

A sobering report has surfaced revealing that Minnesota taxpayers may unwittingly be financing terrorism through extensive welfare fraud schemes linked to the local Somali community.

The Manhattan Institute's investigation unveils a shocking reality: state programs designed to aid vulnerable populations, such as autism therapy and housing services, have been exploited to funnel taxpayer dollars to extremist groups like Al-Shabaab.

This scandal, which has escalated in size and scope, has drawn the attention of law enforcement and state officials, who express outrage over the sheer magnitude of the theft.

Investigator Ryan Thorpe and Christopher Rufo traced funds from Minnesota to Somalia, showcasing a disturbing operation involving informal money transfer systems known as hawalas.

Glenn Kerns, a retired federal detective, exposed that numerous individuals receiving welfare benefits were implicated in this fraud scheme.

He stated, “Every cent that is sent back to Somalia benefits Al-Shabaab in some way.”

These revelations raise critical questions about the integrity of Minnesota’s welfare systems under the administration of Governor Tim Walz.

The Housing Stabilization Services program ballooned dramatically from an initial estimate of $2.6 million to a staggering $61 million in claims.

State officials were forced to suspend the program due to rampant fraud allegations and the termination of payments to numerous providers.

Further complicating the picture, the Feeding Our Future initiative became one of the largest COVID-era fraud cases in the country, raking in nearly $200 million in 2021 alone through inflated meal counts and fake invoices.

Disturbingly, many of those ensnared in the fraud have direct ties to political campaigns, particularly that of Rep. Ilhan Omar.

With recent indictments numbering in the dozens, including charges of wire fraud and money laundering, the situation prompts Minnesotans to demand accountability and oversight over the handling of their tax dollars.

State Rep. Kristin Robbins, who is contesting Gov. Walz in the upcoming election, emphatically urged for immediate action from federal authorities. She stated, “Billions of our tax dollars have been stolen under Tim Walz.”

The implications of these fraud schemes extend beyond financial theft, suggesting a potential risk to national security as taxpayer money may have inadvertently supported terrorism abroad.

All Americans should be concerned about how lax oversight can lead to such dangerous outcomes; without immediate changes, these troubling patterns threaten both individual taxpayers and national safety.

As the investigation unfolds, it remains critical for Minnesota and the nation to address the critical links forming between welfare programs, fraud, and terrorism.
