Outrage
Democrat Rep. Ro Khanna's recent town hall in Pennsylvania's 7th District has stirred significant controversy following remarks by a local council member who lauded cop-killer Assata Shakur as a "freedom fighter."
Ce-Ce Gerlach, during her speech, invoked Shakur's infamous quote, emphasizing the duty to fight for freedom while overlooking Shakur's brutal past as a convicted murderer and fugitive from justice.
Shakur, whose real name is Joanne Chesimard, is notorious for killing New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster in 1973 and subsequently escaping to Cuba, where she remains on the FBI's Most Wanted Terrorists list.
What is particularly alarming is the silence from Khanna and the other local Democratic candidates vying to face Republican Ryan Mackenzie. Neither Lamont McClure nor Carol Obando-Derstine has publicly denounced these remarks, signaling a troubling alignment with radical elements within their party.
Indeed, McClure has previously pushed anti-law enforcement policies that jeopardize local safety and hinder cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Obando-Derstine, associated with Congresswoman Susan Wild, also boasts a long history of anti-police and anti-ICE sentiments.
These incidents mirror a broader trend within the Democratic Party, where a significant faction seems increasingly comfortable endorsing radical figures and embracing an anti-law enforcement stance.
Even more concerning is the group's reaction at a prior event, where an audience member erupted into a chant of "f**k ICE," only to be met with applause. This raises critical questions about the commitment of these candidates to the safety and security of Pennsylvania families.
NRCC Spokeswoman Maureen O’Toole expressed disappointment over the “insane” support for figures like Shakur, stressing the inherent danger in promoting such an agenda.
As the political landscape shifts, the Pennsylvania Democratic Party's approach raises alarms about their priorities and the implications for public safety and law enforcement.
This incident serves as a stark reminder for voters to consider what kind of representation they truly desire in Congress. As Americans prioritize safety, it is clear that the radical left poses a significant risk to the very fabric of our communities.
