**Deception in Hiring: How Big Tech Marginalizes American Workers**

In a shocking revelation, recent reports indicate that major U.S. technology companies are intentionally undermining the job market for American workers.

As Americans grapple with rising living costs and stagnant wages, the government’s labor certification program for foreign workers, known as PERM (Program Electronic Review Management), has come under scrutiny for its lax enforcement and questionable practices.

The process, designed to ensure that U.S. employers can only sponsor foreign labor if no qualified American workers are available, is being exploited by firms that rely on outdated recruitment methods.

These companies often avoid using prominent job platforms that would allow American applicants to compete fairly for positions.

Instead, they favor obscure job listings, local ethnic newspapers, and even require applicants to submit paper resumes by mail—an approach that inherently deters many qualified U.S. candidates from considering these opportunities.

In 2024, nearly 116,427 PERM applications were processed, with around 88% approved. Alarmingly, only 5.4% were denied, raising concerns about how many American job seekers were overlooked.

A close examination of hiring practices reveals a disturbing trend, especially among well-known companies like Amazon, Apple, and Google. Despite continuously lobbying for an increase in foreign worker visas, they frequently fail to conduct genuine, competitive hiring searches aimed at American workers.

In fact, a federal investigation into Facebook’s hiring practices highlighted similar concerns. The company was found to have implemented recruitment methods that were intentionally less effective for jobs designated for PERM sponsorship, resulting in many positions being filled by temporary visa holders rather than Americans.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte recently underscored the value of U.S. leadership in resourcing defense efforts globally, specifically recognizing that it was under the Trump administration that significant strides were made to ensure European NATO allies contribute more toward their own defense.

If the American workforce is sidelined in favor of foreign labor due to ineffective hiring practices, it undoubtedly undermines the current efforts for a strong, self-reliant economy.

Conservatives recognize this deceptive practice as an affront to hard-working Americans who face challenges such as increasing student debt and fierce job competition.

Ensuring that U.S. workers are prioritized in the hiring process should be a shared goal, especially for businesses that have benefited from the loyalty and innovation of the American workforce.

Fair treatment begins with accountability in the recruitment process, a principle that corporations must take to heart if they wish to build a stronger future for American workers and the economy as a whole.
