**Incompetence or Cover-Up? California Democrats Shift Blame to Trump Amid Wildfire Crisis**

As California braces for yet another wildfire season, the state’s Democratic leadership is pointing fingers at former President Donald Trump instead of addressing the real issues plaguing forest management.

Governor Gavin Newsom has ignited a blame game, claiming that Trump’s budget cuts and purported sabotage of disaster aid are to blame for the devastating conditions that lead to catastrophic fires.

However, experts argue that the root cause of California’s wildfire crisis lies not in federal budget cuts but in decades of regulatory mismanagement deeply intertwined with the Democratic Party’s environmental policies.

For over thirty years, California's forests have been subject to a labyrinth of restrictive regulations that hinder effective forest management.

The result is an alarming build-up of fuel across millions of acres, creating a dangerously flammable environment.

Bob Zybach, a wildfire expert, points out that the state has fallen victim to a “litigation industrial complex” spawned by environmental lawsuits that slow down responsible forest management.

“You can’t blame Trump for these fires when it’s the Democrats who have tied our hands with their own policies,” Zybach stated.

Before the year 2000, California suffered through only 45 mega-fires in a century, but since then, the state has seen a staggering 35 mega-fires in just 25 years.

2020 alone was a disastrous year, with 4.3 million acres burned and economic losses nearing $19 billion.

The state’s attempts at forest management are further complicated by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the Endangered Species Act, two pieces of legislation that many believe are largely responsible for the regulatory gridlock.

With emergency declarations often necessary to perform basic forest maintenance, it seems the system in place is more of a hindrance than a help.

Newsom’s repeated assertions linking wildfires to climate change rather than acknowledging the real source of the problem are seen by many as a desperate bid to distract from his party's failings.

While California's leaders are quick to criticize Trump, the facts paint a different picture—one that suggests they have more accountability for the wildfire crisis than they are willing to admit.

As wildfires loom, this continual shifting of blame raises questions about leadership and efficacy in managing one of California's most pressing issues.

It's time for California Democrats to step up, discard the blame game, and confront the real challenges if they truly want to protect their state from the next destructive blaze.
