The Senate has taken a significant step towards restoring the constitutional rights of gun owners with the inclusion of the Stop Harassing Owners of Rifles Today (SHORT) Act into President Trump’s recently proposed legislation, known as the “One Big, Beautiful Bill.”

Senator Roger Marshall (R-Kansas), a staunch supporter of Second Amendment rights, expressed his satisfaction at the bill’s provisions aimed at dismantling the restrictive regulations imposed by the Biden administration under the National Firearms Act (NFA).

In a statement, Senator Marshall emphasized the importance of the act, stating, “Short-barreled weapons are the weapons of choice for self-defense, and I am proud to have gotten the SHORT Act into the President’s ‘One Big, Beautiful Bill.’ ‘Shall not be infringed’ is crystal clear.”

The SHORT Act seeks to eliminate unnecessary taxation, registration, and regulation of short-barreled rifles and shotguns, which have long been targeted by bureaucratic overreach. Under Biden's regime, gun owners faced harassment from the ATF, with the agency labeling individuals owning pistols with stabilizing braces as potential violators of the NFA. This legislation is a decisive move to rectify those abuses and protect the freedoms of American gun owners.

Senator Marshall’s commitment to this issue spans several Congresses, highlighting a consistent Republican focus on safeguarding individual liberties against government intrusion. Under this proposed law, the ATF would also be mandated to destroy records related to the registration and transfer of these firearms, providing a safeguard against future government overreach.

This legislation stands as a testament to the Trump administration's bold approach to righting the wrongs inflicted by the previous administration, ensuring that the voices of law-abiding gun owners are not stifled by fear or unconstitutional mandates.

As Americans continue to advocate for their Second Amendment rights, the passage of the SHORT Act within Trump’s framework signals a renewed commitment to upholding the freedoms that are foundational to this country.

The battle for gun rights continues, but with strong Republican leadership and a president dedicated to upholding the Constitution, there is hope for a future where such rights can flourish unimpeded.
