**Conservatives Push Back Against Leftist Narrative in New Smithsonian Museum Effort**

In a powerful show of unity, conservatives are rallying to support President Donald Trump's initiative to halt federal funding for a newly proposed National Museum of the American Latino, which many have labeled a vehicle for leftist ideology.

A coalition led by the American Principles Project recently delivered a letter to Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, urging him to back Trump’s budget request to defund this controversial museum.

Twenty-two influential policy professionals and conservative Latino leaders signed the letter, voicing serious concerns over the museum’s leanings, which they argue are heavily influenced by “leftist activists.”

The letter explicitly states that the museum, which was authorized under the omnibus spending bill of 2020, is more concerned with pushing a “culturally Marxist depiction of Hispanics” rather than celebrating their contributions to American history. Critics note that the proposed exhibition is fixated on themes like "struggle for justice" and social issues that lean towards leftist doctrine.

Central to the museum's planning is Tey Marianna Nunn, a curator whose past work emphasizes a decolonization approach and is seen by many as promoting divisive and ideologically charged narratives.

The letter highlights a growing concern that this museum could function as a breeding ground for leftist grievances, rather than a place that fosters understanding and unity among diverse American cultures.

Members of the coalition are advocating for an alternative—the Smithsonian Latino Center—an organization that, under Trump’s administration, promises to showcase the rich contributions of Hispanics to America’s heritage, economy, and military, without catering to ideological agendas.

Mike Gonzalez, a senior fellow at the Heritage Foundation and one of the signatories, expressed a stark warning: “This museum cannot be built. If it is, it will be used by the Left as an incubator of never-ending grievances against the United States,” he stated.

Gonzalez further argued that the narratives presented through the proposed museum could lead to further division rather than the celebration of shared national history, advocating instead for an integrated approach that emphasizes unity.

As this movement gains traction, it underscores a broader conservative pushback against what many view as extreme leftist narratives infiltrating institutions that should be neutral and educational.

In a time where identity politics often overshadow genuine discourse, Trump's stand against the funding for this museum reflects a commitment to preserving an inclusive narrative that honors all Americans, irrespective of their background, while rejecting divisive agendas.
