Disgrace

Former FBI Director James Comey has found himself at the center of a disturbing controversy after a social media post appeared to imply a violent message against President Donald Trump.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed that both the Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security are investigating the post, which Comey shared on Instagram and has since removed.

The post, displaying the numbers "8647" arranged with seashells, is widely viewed as a coded reference to a call for violence against the sitting president.

Noem condemned Comey’s actions, stating on X, “Disgraced former FBI Director James Comey just called for the assassination of [President] Trump. DHS and Secret Service are investigating this threat and will respond appropriately.”

This incident has drawn heavy scrutiny and overwhelming support for the extended investigation, especially given the serious nature of such threats against a sitting president.

FBI Director Kash Patel also weighed in, acknowledging the post and confirming that his bureau is coordinating with the Secret Service. He stated, "We are aware of the recent social media post by former FBI Director James Comey, directed at President Trump. We are in communication with the Secret Service and will provide all necessary support."

Comey has attempted to backtrack, claiming ignorance about the alleged violent implications of the numbers he posted.

“I did not realize some folks associate those numbers with violence,” he wrote, insisting he “opposes violence of any kind.”

However, given Comey's history and his past actions taken against conservatives, many see this as an inadequate defense for such a troubling message.

The White House echoed the concerns, with Deputy Chief of Staff and Cabinet Secretary Taylor Budowich stating, “While President Trump is currently on an international trip to the Middle East, the former FBI Director puts out what can clearly be interpreted as ‘a hit’ on the sitting President of the United States.”

As the investigation unfolds, it is clear that even in a climate of division, threats against the president cannot and will not be taken lightly.

The American people expect accountability—whether from a political figure like Comey or anyone else who embraces hate over dialogue. As we move forward, unity in addressing and condemning such behavior remains crucial for the integrity of our political discourse.
