Democrats Gaslight Americans on Crime Rates Reality

The narrative pushed by the Left that crime rates are merely a figment of one’s imagination is not only absurd, but dangerous.

In a recent hearing, Republican Representative Brandon Gill of Texas confronted former Baltimore law enforcement officer Maj. Neill Franklin regarding the safety of his own city.

Despite Baltimore’s crime rates being some of the highest in the nation—homicide rates approximately five times the national average and robbery rates over eight times the average—Franklin audaciously claimed the city was safe.

This exchange represents a larger trend of Democrats downplaying rampant crime to fit their radical agenda.

Many of these cities plagued by violence are governed by liberal leadership, yet their representatives continue to tout gains in safety based on dubious perceptions rather than hard statistics.

For residents trapped in these dangerous environments, feeling safe isn’t nearly enough. The statistics don't lie. When citizens hear police sirens echoing through the night, that’s real crime—it's not merely a perception issue.

Growing up near Baltimore or in similar cities, individuals understand the pulse of their neighborhoods firsthand, marked by experiences that paint a grim picture of urban safety.

The hearing highlighted the disconnect between liberal politicians and the everyday realities faced by many Americans. Accusations that crime is just a matter of perception showcases a disconcerting trend—those in power are more interested in maintaining their narratives than addressing the catastrophic consequences of their policies.

When Democratic leaders insist that citizens just need to think positively about their neighborhoods, it reveals a concerning lack of understanding about the increased danger that multiple communities face.

This approach is not just insulting to citizens' intelligence but signifies an alarming gaslighting of the truth.

What Gill articulated in that committee was the all-important need for accountability among those leading in local governance.

Rather than obfuscating the truth regarding crime statistics, it would be refreshing to see those in power genuinely address the concerns of their constituents.

The message is clear: Americans are fed up with the dismissal of their lived experiences.

People are ready for a governance that acknowledges reality and actively seeks solutions to the crime epidemic rather than downplaying its severity.

As former President Donald Trump revives his agenda of law and order, citizens hope for a return to a time when safety was not just a perception, but a guarantee—because in America, everyone deserves to feel safe in their own neighborhoods.
