**Chaos Erupts in House Hearing Over Transgender Identity Debate**
Tensions flared during a recent House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee meeting when Republican Rep. Keith Self (R-TX) referred to transgender Rep. Sarah McBride (D-DE) as “Mister,” igniting a fierce confrontation with Democrat Rep. Bill Keating (D-MA).
The exchange culminated in an adjournment of the hearing, a poignant reflection of the deep ideological divides in Congress regarding gender identity and biological reality.
As the meeting unfolded, Rep. Self introduced McBride in a manner consistent with his belief in biological truths, stating, “I will now recognize the representative from Delaware, Mr. McBride.” Rep. Keating’s furious reaction was indicative of the increasing demands from the left to conform to their standards of gender identity, which many on the right view as an infringement on fundamental truths.
Keating vocally challenged Self, demanding the recognition of McBride’s identity as a woman and expressing outrage over what he called a “misgendering.”
Self stood firm, reiterating his introduction. “The representative from Delaware, Mr. McBride,” he asserted again, embodying the Republican commitment to acknowledging biological reality, which has increasingly become a focal point in political discourse.
“Have you no decency?” Keating yelled. “I’ve come to know you, but this is not decent.”
Ultimately, Self responded by adjourning the hearing, emphasizing that many Republicans, including former President Donald Trump, advocate for a return to what they see as common-sense principles on gender and identity. On his first day of his second term, Trump had signed an executive order declaring that U.S. policy would recognize only two sexes—male and female.
This incident comes amid a broader national conversation on gender and children’s rights, where various Republican lawmakers have taken stances against allowing transgender individuals who are biologically male to participate in women's sports or use women's restrooms.
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) has been active on this front as well, previously proposing measures aimed at protecting women’s spaces in light of growing concerns regarding fairness and safety.
The exchange in the House is a microcosm of a larger movement occurring within conservative circles to stand boldly against what they perceive as the growing influence of gender ideology.
As this debate intensifies, it becomes increasingly clear that Republicans are not backing down. Instead, they are committed to championing the principles of traditional values and biological truth in the legislative arena, signaling a significant chapter in the ongoing culture wars.
