**Unfair Targeting: Biden Administration's War on Christian Education**
The Biden Administration is facing escalating backlash for its apparent campaign against Christian colleges and universities, accused of enforcing a “woke agenda” through punitive measures that disproportionately impact these institutions.
A recent report from the American Principles Project (APP), a conservative think tank, sheds light on the troubling trend of federal overreach by the Department of Education.
The APP’s investigation reveals that Christian schools, despite representing less than 10% of the student body in the U.S., have borne the brunt of roughly 70% of penalties imposed by the Department’s Office of Enforcement.
The statistics are particularly alarming; the average fine levied against Christian institutions hovers around $815,000, compared to $228,571 for their public and private counterparts who also violate federal law concerning campus safety.
This unequal treatment is exemplified by hefty fines against well-known Evangelical universities like Grand Canyon University and Liberty University, while similar infractions by larger public entities such as Michigan State and Penn State resulted in significantly lower penalties.
“The Biden-Harris Department of Education is weaponizing every part of the federal government to target their opponents,” asserted APP Policy Director Jon Schweppe.
He called the ongoing investigations into Christian colleges “egregious,” stating that they reflect a systematic effort to punish institutions that stand opposed to the left’s ideological agenda.
The Department of Education has attempted to deflect these criticisms, insisting that religious affiliation bears no influence on its enforcement practices.
However, many remain skeptical, viewing these actions as a direct threat to the foundational principles of religious freedom and institutional autonomy.
This controversy comes at a time when the nation is bracing for a potential policy shift under the incoming Trump administration, whose leader has voiced a desire to significantly reduce the size and influence of the Department of Education.
Trump has expressed that funding should follow students rather than bolster a “bloated and radical bureaucracy” based in Washington, D.C.
As this debate heats up, the sentiments resonating within America’s Christian communities are clear: they believe their rights and educational freedoms are under siege.
With the 2024 presidential elections on the horizon, this issue may prove pivotal not only in energizing the conservative base but also in framing the larger conversation about the role of faith in education.
As support mounts for Trump’s vision of educational reform, the threat posed by radical governmental overreach looms larger than ever.
