**Disastrous Housing Policy: Biden’s Latest Move Ignores Reality**

In a striking display of tone-deafness, the Biden administration is set to pursue a legal action that threatens the American dream of homeownership, particularly for minority and middle-class families.

Despite overwhelming electoral backlash signaling discontent with the current administration’s handling of the economy, particularly the housing market, the Justice Department is pressing ahead with misguided legal strategies. This comes on the heels of persistent issues like skyrocketing home prices and a historically unaffordable housing market.

The lawsuit, based on an allegation of appraisal bias in Colorado, could not only hinder housing accessibility but also stir chaos within the real estate market. In what seems to be a politically charged initiative led by Vice President Kamala Harris, the DOJ aims to hold mortgage lenders accountable for independent appraiser actions.

Yet, this approach misdiagnoses the problem and could set a dangerous precedent. While the DOJ claims to address and remedy alleged discrimination, their lack of evidence proves the case's shaky foundation. They have provided no substantial proof that the widespread systemic bias they assert is actually present in appraisals across the country.

Further complicating matters, the actions taken against the appraiser, Maksym Mykhailyna, also extend to Rocket Mortgage, the associated lender. This could dismantle years of hard-fought reforms designed to maintain market stability and prevent the conflicts of interest that previously inflated home prices.

By going after lenders for the independent actions of appraisers, the DOJ's lawsuit undermines the independence necessary for a fair and functioning housing market. This threatens to revive the conditions that led to the 2008 financial crisis, which devastated countless families and communities.

Under the Dodd-Frank Act, rules were established to ensure that appraisers operate independently from lenders to prevent past disasters from reoccurring. The Biden administration’s current course could risk undoing these safeguards, leading to a resurgence of inflationary pressures on home prices and exacerbating the very housing crisis they claim to be addressing.

As housing costs spiral further out of control, it becomes increasingly clear that the administration’s desperate attempts at solving what they perceive as a crisis might only serve to deepen the problem.

The reality is that existing civil rights laws already provide necessary protections against racially biased appraisal practices. Enhancing this framework rather than complicating it through burdensome lawsuits would be a more effective solution.

The incoming Trump administration must take immediate action to audit these dangerous reforms and halt the ongoing lawsuit. It is critical to steer the nation back towards policies that protect homeownership and the American people rather than publish headlines that misguidedly prioritize political correctness over pragmatic economic solutions.

The time for logical, solution-driven policy is now; the future of American homeownership hangs in the balance.
