**Crucial Warning: Growing Intolerance Threatens Religious Freedom in the West**

In a pressing call for action, religious freedom advocates from across the globe are sounding the alarm about increasing intolerance toward Christians and traditional values in Western nations.

At a recent meeting in Berlin, experts gathered to address the alarming trend of marginalization faced by those who uphold conservative beliefs regarding marriage and family.

Anja Hoffmann, executive director of the Observatory on Intolerance Against Christians in Europe, highlighted the chilling effect this hostility is having, with many believers feeling compelled to hide their convictions.

“It is very worrying that the peaceful expression of personal religious beliefs on matters relating to marriage and family has become the potential end of a political career or employment, or even the beginning of a court case,” Hoffmann stated, stressing that this is not merely an isolated incident but a serious threat to the fundamental rights of individuals.

These concerns were echoed by the Religious Freedom Institute, which noted that individuals expressing traditional religious views are increasingly facing severe repercussions, including social ostracism and legal action.

The gathering, which coincided with the International Ministerial Conference on Freedom of Religion or Belief, was organized by notable bodies, including the Commission of the Catholic Bishops' Conferences of the European Union and the Hungarian State Secretariat for the Aid to Persecuted Christians. They collectively emphasized the dire need for Western nations to protect the expression of traditional religious beliefs.

“The institutions that monitor and advance religious freedom in the EU and around the world have come together in response to a common concern: religious believers in the West are increasingly being targeted,” warned a representative from the Religious Freedom Institute.

The meeting highlighted how policies and cultural attitudes in many Western countries are pressuring people to conform to liberal ideologies, undermining the pluralistic values that are supposed to define democratic societies.

José Luis Bazán of COMECE described this trend as a form of "polite persecution," where the right to express and live according to one's faith is systematically eroded.

The commitment to upholding the rights of religious believers, especially those with traditional views on family and marriage, was solidified through a declaration submitted to member states of the International Religious Freedom or Belief Alliance.

Leaders of the meeting called for immediate action to ensure that all individuals, regardless of their beliefs, can express their views without fear of retaliation or marginalization.

As Western nations grapple with their core values, the message from these advocates is clear: safeguarding religious freedom is not just about protecting individual rights; it is crucial to maintaining the social fabric of our democratic societies.

The call to action underscores an urgent need for leaders to support the rights of all faiths while prioritizing the foundational principles that have shaped Western civilization.
