**Unprepared: America Stands Vulnerable to Russian Interference in Elections**

Former special counsel Robert Mueller, known for his investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election, has issued a stark warning about America’s readiness for future cyber threats.

In a newly released book, “Interference: The Inside Story of Trump, Russia and the Mueller Investigation,” Mueller emphasizes that the United States remains unprepared to fend off Russian tactics aimed at undermining democracy.

Mueller notes that the lessons learned from the 2016 election appear to be forgotten, stating, "It is evident that Americans have not learned the lessons of Russia’s attack on our democracy in 2016."

Highlighting past events, Mueller recalls how the Russian government embarked on systematic efforts to sway the 2016 election in favor of Donald Trump against Hillary Clinton.

While the investigation did not establish direct collusion between Trump and Russia, it was clear that foreign harm was directed at American electoral integrity.

Mueller, who served as FBI director prior to his special counsel role, reflected on the ongoing risks. He remarked, “We were not prepared then and, despite many efforts of dedicated people across the government, we are not prepared now.”

His comments come at a critical time as another election approaches, with Trump once again a central figure.

With pro-Trump influencers reportedly receiving payments from Russian sources, renewed concerns about foreign interference continue to rise.

A report by Microsoft recently revealed that Russia is accelerating its covert influence tactics against the current election and its candidates.

As the Biden administration faces mounting criticism for its handling of foreign cyber threats, Trump supporters point to a stark contrast—what they refer to as a lack of effective leadership when it comes to safeguarding elections.

As America enters an election year, vigilance against foreign interference will prove essential to maintaining the integrity of its democratic processes.

The question looms larger than ever: are Americans ready to face the threats that have plagued their elections and taken them by surprise in the past?
