**Hypocrisy**
The recently approved Democratic Party platform for the 2024 election fails to address the pressing issues facing American education today.
While touting promises of providing a "world-class education in every zip code," Democrats seem to overlook the fact that they are entrenching children in failing public school systems.
The irony is palpable.
The Democratic leadership's platform emphasizes increased funding for public schools, yet there is no substantive evidence that funding alone will resolve the deep-rooted problems within these institutions.
Current statistics indicate that American schools spend an average of $17,280 per student per year. This totals roughly $857.2 billion annually on public education.
In comparison, the average private school tuition remains significantly lower at about $12,832.
So, if public schools are spending considerably more per student, why are they still underperforming?
The concern isn't about funding—it's about the educational system itself.
Despite substantial financial inflows, test scores have stagnated or even declined over the past two decades.
The Democrats’ resistance to school choice highlights their misalignment with actual educational reform.
Voucher programs, which allow public education funding to follow students to the schools their families deem best, face staunch opposition from the left.
Instead of empowering families and students, the Democratic platform appears more focused on protecting the status quo, which benefits established interest groups, particularly teachers' unions.
Moreover, the recent Espinoza v. Montana Department of Revenue Supreme Court decision allowed for publicly funded voucher programs to support private religious schools—a critical development for low-income families seeking quality education options.
Yet the Democrats counter this progress by framing school choice efforts as a diversion of resources from public schools without acknowledging the fundamental shift in authority from the institution to the family.
Their argument blatantly ignores the needs of the most vulnerable families while asserting a misplaced allegiance to a failing system.
With their 2024 platform, Democrats prioritize funding public school systems over individual student success, undermining their claims of advocating for equity in education.
As the Biden-Harris administration continues to exert control over educational policies, it raises questions about whether the Democrats truly stand for students or for a bureaucratic agenda that serves political interests.
Americans deserve an educational model that prioritizes the needs of children, not politics.
As the election approaches, it will be crucial for concerned citizens to advocate for real reform, such as school choice, that empowers families and champion educational freedom.
