Trump Team Prepares to Face 'Unvetted, Untested' Kamala Harris

Donald Trump's political team has been preparing to run against Vice President Kamala Harris for weeks, following President Joe Biden's announcement that he is dropping out of the 2024 race.

Richard Grenell, a former U.S. ambassador to Germany and Trump's acting director of national intelligence, expressed excitement at the prospect of running against Harris, stating that "as we know in California, she has never been vetted." Grenell criticized Harris as "very far left, unvetted and untested."

While there is no guarantee that Harris will replace Biden as the Democratic nominee, she is currently the only declared candidate and is expected to have a considerable advantage in the nomination process.

Republicans have been preparing for this possibility for weeks, with the recent Republican National Convention in Milwaukee featuring numerous attacks on Harris. Trump's speech accepting the nomination was written with no direct mentions of Biden, and he ad-libbed just one mention of the president.

Trump himself has been critical of Biden, calling him "the worst president in the history of the United States by far" and pledging to "fix what he has done."

Republicans plan to focus on Harris' role in the Biden administration, particularly her involvement in what they see as a cover-up of Biden's deteriorating mental condition. They also plan to emphasize her responsibility for addressing the "root causes" of the wave of migrants making the trek north from Central America, which has earned her the nickname "border czar" from Republicans.

Trump's team and Republicans more broadly see Harris as a weak candidate who is "completely unproven" and "less accomplished" than Biden. They plan to tie her to the unpopular policies of the Biden-Harris administration and emphasize her role in the cover-up of Biden's mental decline.

Trump's team is confident that they are prepared for any scenario Democrats present, with senior adviser Jason Miller stating that they have "polled, we've done the research, we have the ads cut. We're completely ready to go."

Biden's exit from the race has been just another in a long line of ups and downs that have defined the 2024 race. Democrats are hopeful that moving on from Biden will rid them of the problem of having a candidate who is perceived as too old, but Republicans remain confident that Trump will emerge victorious.
