Senator Joe Manchin, I-W. Va., is reportedly considering re-registering as a Democrat to run for president in the upcoming election. This news comes after Manchin announced his intent not to run for re-election, with polls suggesting that his seat is leaning back to the Republican Party.

Manchin has been a vocal critic of the Democratic Party's radicalism and has previously shied away from running for president due to concerns that he could be a "spoiler" for Democrats. However, on Sunday, Manchin joined other Democrats in calling on President Joe Biden to step down from the ticket due to the president's cognitive decline and inability to defeat former President Donald Trump.

"I came to the decision with a heavy heart that I think it's time to pass the torch to a new generation," Manchin told CNN's Jake Tapper on State of the Union.

Manchin would be the second individual to challenge Vice President Kamala Harris, who is seeking the Democratic nomination following Biden's humiliating ouster by his party. Marianne Williamson has already announced her plan to seek the Democratic nomination.

Manchin's potential entry into the race could pose a significant threat to Harris, who has struggled to gain popularity among voters. Her catchphrase has been widely criticized as "cringe" and "awkward."

It remains to be seen whether Manchin will ultimately decide to enter the race and if he does, how he will fare in the crowded Democratic field. However, his potential candidacy highlights the growing divide within the Democratic Party and the desire for a new generation of leadership.
