Former President Donald Trump and his newly announced running mate, Ohio GOP Sen. JD Vance, are set to appear for their first joint sit-down interview with Fox News next week. The interview will air on Monday night at 8 p.m. Eastern as part of "Jesse Watters Primetime."

Trump announced Vance as his running mate during the first night of the Republican convention in Milwaukee, where they were later officially nominated as the party's presidential and vice presidential candidates. In a post on Truth Social, Trump praised Vance's qualifications and story as a working-class man who became a Marine and then went to college before working in finance and turning to politics.

The former president also cited Vance's book, "Hillbilly Elegy," which became a best-seller and movie, as evidence of his ability to champion the hardworking men and women of America. During the campaign, Trump said Vance would be "strongly focused" on the American workers and farmers in key battleground states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Minnesota.

The upcoming interview with Fox News is expected to be Trump's debut television appearance since the recent assassination attempt. It will also be the first time that Trump and Vance will appear together in a joint interview since being nominated as the Republican ticket.

The announcement of Vance as Trump's running mate has been met with enthusiasm from many conservatives, including CNN Senior Political Commentator and former Obama Adviser Van Jones. During CNN's RNC coverage on Thursday, Jones stated that he hasn't been at a convention that felt like the 2024 RNC since the 2008 Democratic National Convention for President Barack Obama.

Meanwhile, the Biden campaign has criticized Trump's convention speech as a rambling attempt to mask his "extreme vision" for a second term. In a statement, Biden campaign chair Jen O'Malley Dillon accused Trump of seeking to find problems with America rather than providing solutions. She also touted President Biden's intention to stay in the race and defeat Trump in November.

However, Trump's keynote address at the convention was met with enthusiasm from many conservatives, who praised his focus on American workers and farmers. The upcoming interview with Fox News is expected to provide further insight into Trump and Vance's vision for America and their plans for the upcoming election.
