Cuban Nationals Arrested for Smuggling Illegal Immigrants in Texas

Two Cuban nationals were apprehended in Texas on Sunday for smuggling illegal immigrants, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS).

The incident occurred in Kinney County, where TxDPS troopers pulled over a suspicious Chevrolet sedan with four men inside on US-277. The driver, Diojany Carrillo Rodriguez from Florida, and the passenger, Dariel Ibanez Hernandez, a Cuban National who has a pending US Court hearing for his citizenship, were found to be smuggling two illegal immigrants from Mexico.

Rodriguez claimed that he had encountered the illegals in Eagle Pass and was driving them to a location in Houston. However, both Rodriguez and Hernandez were arrested and charged with smuggling of persons. The illegals, who said they were from the Mexican state of Guanajuato, were turned over to U. S. Border Patrol.

The incident highlights the ongoing issue of illegal immigration in Texas, which has seen a significant increase in recent years. In response, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has taken a number of measures to address the issue, including deploying the National Guard to the border and signing a law that makes it a felony to smuggle illegal immigrants.

Meanwhile, Republican vice presidential nominee, Sen. J. D. Vance, R-Ohio, has assured conservative Christians that they still have a seat at the table in the Republican Party. Speaking at a breakfast hosted by the conservative Christian voter mobilization organization Faith & Freedom Coalition, Vance addressed concerns that many social conservatives have shared about the party's stance on issues like abortion and same-sex marriage.

"From the bottom of my heart, I want to say that is not true. Social conservatives have a seat at this table, and they always will, so long as I have any influence in this party and President Trump, I know, agrees," Vance said.

Vance's comments come after the Republican National Committee's Platform Committee approved a revised Republican Platform that softened the party stance against abortion and removed any overt opposition to same-sex marriage. The changes drew the ire of many conservative Christians in the Republican Party, who viewed the revisions as betraying the views of a key voting bloc within the GOP.

In other news, former President Donald Trump is set to accept his party's nomination to run against President Joe Biden in November at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. Trump's speech is highly anticipated, particularly following an attempt on his life at a rally in Pennsylvania last weekend. The night's lineup includes prominent Trump supporters, so-called "everyday Americans" who have been sharing stories throughout the convention, and wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, as well as the CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
