Former President Donald Trump to Address Nation at RNC, Lay Out Vision for Second Term
Former President Donald Trump is set to address the nation on the final day of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, marking his first public appearance since surviving an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania. The highly anticipated speech will see Trump accepting his party's nomination to run against President Joe Biden in November.
The theme of Thursday's final day will be "Make America Great Once Again," with Trump expected to lay out his vision for a "new golden age for America." The former president is expected to expand on the party's proposed policies on border security, promising extensive deportations of undocumented immigrants if elected to the White House. He has also pledged to resume construction on a border wall between the U.S. and Mexico.
Trump is expected to be introduced by Ultimate Fighting Championship CEO Dana White, and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is also expected to speak during the convention's final day. Other notable speakers on the list include Hulk Hogan, Eric Trump, and a performance from Kid Rock.
The former president has also promised to enact tariffs on foreign goods to aid American companies in the world economic market and pursue tougher foreign policy initiatives to deter aggression abroad by countries like Iran. He has extensively discussed strengthening American support of Israel in their conflict with Hamas, while his running mate JD Vance has spoken out against continued financial support for Ukraine in their war against Russia.
