Former President Donald Trump met with Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle at the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, following the recent shooting at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania. The meeting, which was described as short, took place amid calls for Cheatle's resignation due to the attempted assassination against Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Cheatle was confronted by several senators at the RNC, demanding answers regarding the incident. The Secret Service Director has been under scrutiny for the agency's handling of the situation, which resulted in the death of Corey Comperatore, a firefighter who shielded his family from flying bullets during the rally.

In a related development, Fox News confirmed that Trump had wanted to attend Comperatore's public viewing but was advised against it by the Secret Service due to an inability to secure the densely wooded area nearby. It is unclear if this was the topic of discussion during the meeting between Trump and Cheatle.

The shooting suspect, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was reportedly found to have hidden the weapon in advance, according to a Secret Service source. However, it remains unclear where he hid it. Crooks opened fire on the rally, killing Comperatore and seriously wounding two others.

Authorities have been pointing fingers about who was responsible for securing the AGR building, from where Crooks opened fire. Trump later revealed that he had been shot in the right ear, with photos from the scene showing him getting back to his feet after ducking for cover with blood on the right side of his head.

Trump appeared publicly at the RNC later in the week, wearing a bandage on his ear. Wake services for Comperatore were scheduled for Thursday, with a private ceremony planned for Friday. The other victims have been upgraded from critical condition to serious but stable.

This is a developing story, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
