Disney World Cancels Iconic Character After 50 Years Over Fears of Offending Alcoholics

Disney World has announced that it will be canceling one of its iconic characters, Liver Lips McGrowl, after 50 years of service. The decision comes after the character's name was deemed "insensitive and outdated" and could potentially offend the delicate sensibilities of alcoholics.

Liver Lips McGrowl is one of the 18 animatronic bears of the "Country Bear Jamboree" at Magic Kingdom. The character will not be making his grand return alongside the other robotic mammals when the attraction reopens Wednesday after a seven-month break.

The name "Liver Lips" is considered derogatory and offensive, as it is associated with alcohol abuse and the damage it does to the liver. Disney has made a commitment to addressing and rectifying outdated or culturally insensitive elements within its attractions.

The removal of Liver Lips is part of a bigger trend in Disney, which has been criticized for its "woke" agenda. Many fans have taken to social media to lament the character's demise.

McGrowl will be replaced and renamed as Romeo McGrowl, a bear with the same last name and a similar facial appearance as Liver Lips but with a James Dean-esque head of hair.

The updated attraction, a "knee-slappin' good time" inside the rustic theater Grizzly Hall, will reopen as the "Country Bear Musical Jamboree" ride at Magic Kingdom's Frontierland.

In other news, Poland has narrowly rejected a bill decriminalizing assisting a woman to obtain an illegal abortion. The Polish Sejm, the lower chamber of Poland's parliament, voted 218-215 against the bill, with two members abstaining.

Abortion is only legal in Poland until 12 weeks of pregnancy, and even then, the abortion has to be in cases of sexual assault, incest, or when the mother's life is at risk. Women who obtain illegal abortions do not face criminal penalties, but an abortionist who performs an illegal abortion and any person who assists the woman or the abortionist in the legal abortion could face up to three years in prison for their roles.

The Polish government's progressive caucus Lewica, or the Left, spearheaded the pro-abortion bill that was ultimately defeated on July 12. However, left-wing lawmakers have vowed to repeatedly resubmit the bill until it is adopted.

Polish President Andrzej Duda, a Catholic, has expressed his opposition to abortion and stated last week that he would not sign the legislation if it did pass. The Polish Bishops' Conference has previously made appeals for the country to uphold its pro-life laws and protections for unborn children.

Finally, the media has been accused of hiding how the abortion pill hurts women. The abortion pill, mifepristone, has been compared to penicillin and Viagra in terms of safety, but this comparison is misleading.

Mifepristone interrupts a healthy pregnancy, takes lives, causes incredible pain and copious bleeding, and puts a mother's life and health at risk. In contrast, drugs like penicillin and Tylenol save lives, relieve pain, and generally make life better.

The media has been accused of downplaying the risks of the abortion pill and not reporting on the negative side effects that women experience. It is important for women to have all the information before making a decision about their reproductive health.
