Sen. Bernie Sanders remains optimistic about President Biden's chances in the 2024 election, despite growing concerns about his cognitive abilities and debate performance.

During an interview with The New Yorker, Sanders expressed his belief that Biden is the best candidate to run against former President Donald Trump. He urged the media to focus on Biden's record and vision for the future, rather than his debate performance.

"I think he is the best candidate and I think if he runs a strong, effective campaign focused on the needs of the working class of this country, he will win big," Sanders said. "And I think there’s a chance he could win big."

Sanders also addressed concerns about Biden's cognitive abilities, stating that the media should also scrutinize Trump's cognitive capabilities.

"What the media should be doing, in my view, is focusing on the contrast between Joe Biden, what his record is and what his vision is for the future, not just what happened in a debate," Sanders said. "And if you want to talk about cognitive capabilities and you want to talk about things that people say, take a hard look at Donald Trump as well."

Sanders' comments come as some Democrats have expressed concerns about Biden's ability to win against Trump in the upcoming election. Rep. Adam Schiff, for example, recently called on Biden to drop out of the race, citing "serious concerns" that he cannot win.

Despite these concerns, Sanders remains optimistic about Biden's chances. He has shown increasing support for Biden over the years and believes that he is the best candidate to lead the country.

As the 2024 election approaches, it remains to be seen whether Biden can overcome the challenges facing his campaign and win against Trump. However, with Sanders' support, he may have a better chance than some Democrats believe.
