Former Trump advisor Peter Navarro released from prison after serving four-month sentence.

Peter Navarro, a former trade advisor to President Donald Trump, was released from a Miami federal prison on Wednesday morning following the completion of a four-month sentence for refusing to comply with a subpoena from the January 6 committee.

Navarro was convicted of contempt of Congress and served his sentence alongside other inmates, who reportedly respected and liked him. According to his prison consultant Sam Mangel, Navarro worked as a law library clerk during his time at the prison, which gave him the opportunity to write.

Navarro is one of two Trump advisors to be imprisoned for refusing to comply with subpoenas from the committee. Steve Bannon reported to a Connecticut prison on July 1 to begin serving his four-month sentence.

Navarro's team wrote on X ahead of his release that "the best is yet to come." He is expected to travel to Milwaukee following his release to address the Republican National Convention.

The release of Navarro comes as Republicans continue to push back against what they see as politically motivated investigations by Democrats. In an exclusive interview with the Daily Caller, Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) outlined the Republican agenda for a potential second Trump term, which includes investigating Attorney General Merrick Garland for his handling of the January 6 investigation.

Navarro's release is a reminder of the ongoing political battles between Republicans and Democrats, and the lengths to which some are willing to go to defend their principles. As the 2024 election approaches, it remains to be seen how these issues will play out on the national stage.
