Idaho Becomes First State to Take Executive Action Ensuring Only Citizens Will Vote

In a move that is sure to please conservatives and Republicans, Idaho has become the first state to take executive action to ensure that only citizens will vote in their elections. Governor Brad Little signed Executive Order 2024-07, the ONLY CITIZENS WILL VOTE Act, to protect election integrity, voter confidence, and the sanctity of voting.

The executive order directs the Secretary of State, Phil McGrane, to work with local county clerks to scrub Idaho's voter rolls and make sure that non-citizens are not registered to vote. The order also directs the Secretary of State to routinely review Idaho's voter rolls, in coordination with the Idaho State Police and the Idaho Transportation Department, to identify any potential non-citizens.

The executive order comes at a time when confidence in elections is eroding in many parts of the country, particularly in states controlled by Democrats. In contrast, Idaho has some of the most secure elections in the nation, and this executive order is aimed at keeping it that way.

The move is likely to be welcomed by conservatives and Republicans, who have long been concerned about the integrity of elections. The issue of voter fraud has been a contentious one in recent years, with many Republicans claiming that it is a significant problem, while Democrats have downplayed its importance.

The executive order is also likely to be seen as a rebuke to the Biden administration, which has been accused of seeking to register non-citizens to vote. The order specifically directs state agencies not to provide voter registration materials to non-citizens or coordinate with any federal programs or agencies to provide voter registration material to non-citizens in the State of Idaho.

The executive order is a significant step in ensuring that only citizens are able to vote in Idaho's elections. It is likely to be watched closely by other states, particularly those controlled by Republicans, who may seek to follow Idaho's lead in taking executive action to ensure the integrity of their elections.

In a statement, Governor Little said, "Idaho already has the most secure elections in the nation, and we’re going to keep it that way. My executive order – the ONLY CITIZENS WILL VOTE Act – directs Secretary of State Phil McGrane to work with local county clerks to scrub our voter rolls and make sure Idaho's elections do not fall prey to the consequences of Biden's lawless open border."

Secretary McGrane added, "Across Idaho’s 44 counties, we have excellent mechanisms in place already to ensure non-citizens do not vote in Idaho, but there is always more we can do to make sure only citizens will vote. I am proud to work closely with Governor Brad Little to put in place a plan that keeps Idaho ahead of the pack in election integrity."

The executive order is a clear signal that Idaho is taking the issue of election integrity seriously and is willing to take bold action to ensure that only citizens are able to vote in their elections. It is likely to be welcomed by conservatives and Republicans across the country, who have long been concerned about the issue of voter fraud.
