Congressional Democrats are reportedly planning meetings to discuss President Joe Biden's 2024 prospects, according to NBC News. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., is set to convene a virtual meeting with Democratic committee ranking members on Sunday, while Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., is organizing a group of Democratic senators to meet next week.

The meetings come amid concerns about Biden's electability and the potential for a drag on down-ballot races for the House and Senate. While two House Democrats have publicly called for Biden to drop out of the 2024 race following a poor debate performance last week, senators have so far held their fire on Biden's future.

Warner's office declined to comment on the meeting, and Jeffries' office did not respond to a request for comment. However, sources familiar with the outreach told NBC News that the meetings are expected to focus on the path forward for Biden.

The House committee leaders' meeting is not part of any regularly scheduled gathering of ranking members and comes a day before House lawmakers are slated to return to Washington following the Fourth of July recess.

Biden and the White House have insisted that he will stay in the race, with the president telling supporters at a rally in Wisconsin on Friday that he is running and will beat former President Donald Trump in November.

However, some Democrats are concerned about Biden's ability to win re-election. Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., said in an interview with NBC News on Friday that he is still confident Biden can beat Trump in November, but added that some Democrats need to "get a spine" and stop panicking.

The meetings come as Republicans continue to rally around Trump, who remains a popular figure among conservative voters. Trump has yet to officially announce his candidacy for the 2024 election, but he has hinted at a possible run and has continued to hold rallies and campaign events.

As the 2024 election approaches, both parties will be closely watching Biden's performance and assessing his chances of winning re-election. The upcoming meetings among Democratic leaders will be closely watched for any signs of dissent or concern about Biden's electability.
