President Joe Biden faces mounting pressure from within his own party as Democrats question his fitness for office and call for him to drop out of the presidential race.

Rep. Angie Craig, D-Minn., became the fifth Democratic representative to call on Biden to drop out of the race, citing his poor performance in the first presidential debate against presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump.

"Given what I saw and heard from the President during last week's debate in Atlanta, coupled with the lack of a forceful response from the President himself following that debate, I do not believe that the President can effectively campaign and win against Donald Trump," Craig said in a statement.

Other representatives who have called on Biden to drop out of the race include Reps. Lloyd Doggett, D-Texas, Raúl Grijalva, D-Ariz., Mike Quigley, D-Ill., and Seth Moulton, D-Mass.

Despite the growing calls for him to step aside, Biden has insisted that he will stay in the race. However, his recent comments about his own health have only added to the concerns about his fitness for office.

During a meeting with Democrat governors, Biden reportedly told a "joke" about being unsure whether he might have brain damage. While Biden has long been known to use self-deprecating humor, this latest joke came a little too close to the truth for some Democrats.

In response to the panic about Biden, Hawaii's Democrat Governor Josh Green urged Democrats to "lighten up." However, Green's comments did little to quell the fears about Biden's fitness for office.

Meanwhile, Democrat Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) has reportedly begun an effort to get Biden out of the race. Biden has responded to the mounting pressure with defiance, dismissing Warner as "the only one" when asked about the senator's push on Friday at a campaign rally in Wisconsin.

As the pressure mounts on Biden, some Democrat donors have reportedly pledged $2 million to fund new debates if Biden drops out of the race. However, it remains to be seen whether these efforts will be enough to save Biden's struggling campaign.

With the election just months away, the future of the Democratic Party hangs in the balance. Will Biden be able to overcome the mounting pressure and secure a second term in office, or will he be forced to step aside and make way for a new candidate? Only time will tell.
