Illegal Immigrant Charged Over Fatal Colorado Crash Had Faced Deportation Over A Dozen Times

Ignacio Cruz-Mendoza, a 47-year-old Mexican national, has been charged over a fatal car crash in Colorado last week.

The incident took place on Interstate 285 near Conifer, Colorado, resulting in the death of 64-year-old Scott Miller and causing injury to another person.

Mendoza, who was driving a semi-truck, is accused of driving off the road and dumping the pipe and angle iron he was hauling onto five other vehicles.

Colorado State Patrol believes Mendoza was speeding when he got into the wreck.

He was initially facing vehicular homicide charges but now faces one count of careless driving resulting in death and three counts of careless driving resulting in injury.

Mendoza is currently detained on a $50,000 bail in Jefferson County Jail.

Immigration authorities have revealed that Mendoza had previously been deported multiple times.

ICE said on Monday that the man had either been deported to or voluntarily returned to Mexico at least 16 times in the past.

Mendoza was previously ordered to be deported after he was convicted of drug charges in Oregon back in 2002.

At the time of the accident, he was facing another deportation order.

Republican lawmakers have called on President Joe Biden to tighten border security amid the surge of illegal immigrants being released into the United States.

This incident is just the latest in a string of high-profile arrests of illegal immigrants for crimes.

Last weekend, 23-year-old Victor Antonio Martinez Hernandez, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador, was arrested for the murder of 37-year-old Rachel Morin.

Hernandez is accused of murdering Morin, a mother of five, when she was out on a hike in Harford County, Maryland, in August 2023.

Hernandez is suspected of a January 2023 murder in El Salvador and of assaulting a 9-year-old girl in California.

On Tuesday, the NYPD arrested an illegal immigrant suspected of tying up and raping a 13-year-old girl in broad daylight in a park in Queens.

The suspect is a 25-year-old illegal immigrant from Ecuador who is believed to have entered the United States in 2021.

These incidents have raised concerns about the need for stricter border control and the enforcement of immigration laws.

Republicans have long advocated for stronger border security and have criticized the Biden administration for its handling of the situation at the southern border.

The party has called for the completion of the border wall and the implementation of policies to deter illegal immigration.

The incident in Colorado has once again highlighted the dangers posed by illegal immigrants who have been deported multiple times and have a history of criminal activity.

It has also underscored the need for stricter enforcement of immigration laws and the importance of securing the border.

The Republican Party has vowed to continue to push for stronger border security and to hold the Biden administration accountable for its failure to address the issue.
