Facebook Accused of Censoring Conservative Voices, Again

Breaking news: Facebook has once again been accused of censoring conservative voices, this time by blocking a post about Biden campaign disinformation.

On Thursday, Issues & Insights published an editorial criticizing Biden's campaign ads for being misleading and filled with actual lies and distortions of the truth. However, when some readers tried to share the article on Facebook, their posts were deleted.

One reader commented that it was "pretty rich" for Facebook to claim that an article pointing out how Biden's ads were misleading was itself misleading. Another reader said that they shared the article, but Facebook deleted it.

Issues & Insights also tried to post the editorial on their own Facebook page, but were unable to do so. The publication has accused Facebook of censorship and election interference, stating that the social media giant's most rigorous attempts at controlling "misinformation" were rolled out in October 2019, a year ahead of the 2020 elections.

This is not the first time that Facebook has been accused of censoring conservative voices. In January 2021, the platform banned then-President Donald Trump for life, citing the risk of further incitement of violence.

Facebook has denied censoring anything, stating that it merely squelches "misinformation." However, critics argue that the platform has allowed demonstrable falsehoods to spread far and wide, while silencing truthful claims that are inconvenient for leftist politicians.

As the 2024 election approaches, concerns are growing that social media giants like Facebook, Twitter, and Google will once again stifle Americans' right to hear all sides of the issues. Issues & Insights has called on readers to support their mission of providing fact-based reporting and deeply informed analysis on the news of the day, without fear or favor.

In a statement, the publication said: "Having our own truthful posts hidden, deleted, and demonetized by social media violates our right to free speech. But more importantly, they're violations of your rights as citizens and voters to hear all sides of the political debate."

Issues & Insights was founded by seasoned journalists of the IBD Editorials page, and is committed to providing cogent, rational, data-driven, fact-based commentary that the nation so desperately needs. The publication relies on reader support to continue its mission, and has encouraged readers to donate or subscribe to their content.
