Senior House Democrat Admits Resignation to Second Trump Presidency

In a stunning revelation, a senior House Democrat has admitted that they and their colleagues have resigned themselves to a second Trump presidency. This admission comes in the wake of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, where he narrowly escaped death.

The assassination attempt has reportedly taken some of the heat off of President Joe Biden, as it would be "bad form to make any statements against President Biden" in the aftermath of such a tragic event. The Biden campaign has also adopted a similar posture, pulling ads and postponing the president's visit to Austin, Texas.

However, not all Democrats are pleased with this development. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) took to Twitter to express her displeasure, stating that any "senior Democrat" who feels this way should retire and make way for "true leadership that refuses to resign themselves to fascism."

Despite the current lull in tensions, most lawmakers who spoke to Axios believe that the Democratic bloodsports over Biden will resume shortly. However, the second senior House Democrat offered one reason for why the cessation in tensions might last until the Democratic National Convention next month: "We've all resigned ourselves to a second Trump presidency."

This revelation comes as Trump prepares to address supporters at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The event follows the June 27 debate, where Trump reportedly demolished President Joe Biden. With the attempted assassination and the debate, it seems that Trump's chances of returning to the Oval Office in January are looking increasingly likely.

As the campaign to oust Biden fizzles out, it remains to be seen whether the Democrats will be able to mount a successful challenge to Trump in the upcoming election. However, with senior Democrats already resigning themselves to a second Trump presidency, it seems that the Republican candidate may have already secured a significant advantage.
