A severe ice storm is continuing to wreak havoc across parts of the South, leading to chaos on roads and widespread power outages. At least eight deaths have been linked to the storm, which has caused travel disruption both on the roads and at airports. The National Weather Service predicts that the winter storm, which has brought sleet and freezing rain from Texas to Tennessee, is expected to continue through at least Thursday. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has advised residents to stay off the roads due to hazardous icing and warned that around 1,600 roads in the state have been affected.
