An additional Memphis police officer has been fired and six others have been relieved of duty in connection with the death of Tyre Nichols, a 29-year-old man who was beaten during a traffic stop on January 7th. The six officers were fired due to violations of personal conduct, truthfulness, and rules regarding a Taser stun device. Five of the six officers were also criminally charged with second-degree murder and other counts.

Additionally, three Memphis EMTs who responded to the incident have also been fired for failing to render emergency care and treatment to the victim. The license of two of the fired EMTs have been suspended by the Tennessee Department of Health for 19 minutes of inaction at the scene. The incident, caught on video, has sparked nationwide outrage and an ongoing investigation by multiple departments.
